1997-2002 Senior Editor- Anyplace Wild PBS
During this time I edited and oversaw post production and delivery of approximately 52 episodes of this series which aired nationally in over 300 markets. I also picked up some side jobs which included documentaries for National Geographic and WGBH as well as many industrial films for companies like NewsAmerica, MBNA and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
1996-1997 Commercial Producer- WCSH6 NBC
My duties included working with the sales department to deliver top notch production services to WCSH advertising customers. It was also a fantastic opportunity to sharpen my skills of shooting, writing, and producing. These skills remain at the core of my interest in media production.
1992-1996 Freelance Production
This was a formative time in my career as I was fully immersed in the freelance lifestyle, working all kinds of gigs as grip and electrician. I also had a regular gig editing for Resort Sports Network and racked up thousands of hours pounding out timecode on a Sony 9000 edit controller. Remember the days of 1" tape machines and time base correctors? I do, and the skills I learned in those edit suites still serve me well today.
1989-1992
I started down this career path when I got a job with Greg Stump Productions/Delamo Films. It was like a revelation! I studied English at the University of Maine ('86), then got my, ahem, masters degree in powder skiing in Jackson Hole and thought I was going to study architecture when I came back East. I saw what Greg was doing and decided that was perfect for me. Narrative writing was my bag but creating strong images with words was difficult. With a camera, I could make the images I wanted and use words and music to stitch them together. Public Access TV was my gateway to the tools and skills I needed to get started. From there I threw myself into any situation where I might get experience and possibly even a modest check. Those were the days!
